"O wow, O wow, O wow,"  Reportably the last words of Apple founder Steve Jobs as he gazed beyond his family.  Steve began to pass through the threshold.

A Letter to a Dying Man
From the book, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones
Bassui wrote the following letter to one of his disciples who was about to die:
"The essence of your mind is not born, so it will never die. It is not an existence, which is perishable. It is not an emptiness, which is a mere void. It has neither color nor form. It enjoys no pleasures and suffers no pains.
"I know you are very ill. Like a good Zen student, you are facing that sickness squarely. You may not know exactly who is suffering, but question your self: What is the essence of this mind? Think only of this. You will need no more. Covet nothing. Your end which is endless is as a snowflake dissolving in the pure air."

Unity awareness in the field of space and time

Mystical landscape art expressing cosmic consciousnessUnityunion within diversity

The mystic finds that in order to go between the pair of oppisentes he will lend himself to love and gratitude.  This simple exercise generally liberates the mind from the presence of dichotomies.  The issues that present themself from the theory of relitivity are resolved with string theory or quamtum mechanics.

Unity awareness in the field of space and time

When I speak of unity in the field of space and time I am talking about recognition of our non-differentiated state of being within this multi-faceted world. The nature of our being as it existed, before the individuation process began.  Each one of us is still the unified similarity expressing itself in a variety of forms.   The diversity that exist in the world is a wonder to behold and to celebrate while simutainously, our non-differentiated essence is a source of inspiration and santuary.  Albert Einstein spent more then 30 years in the attempt to unify his theory of relativity with the theory of gravity.  Unfortunately he passed away before solving this mind bending puzzle.  This is the nemesis that he encountered.

Most people probably percieves that there is some thing about life that just does not add up.  This complex nature of duality perplexes the mind.  How can this world be so full of contradictory elements?  This dichotomy  presents itself over and over again.  In physics, the state of two natures is present every where.  A classic example is wave-particle duality.  The elementary constituents of nature behave in some respects like particles and in others like waves.

Duality is often used in a more precise sense. It indicates that two seemingly different, theoretical descriptions of a physical system are actually mathematically equivalent. Such an occurrence is very useful. Various properties and phenomena are clearer in one or the other of the descriptions, and calculations that are difficult or impossible in one description may be simple in the other. In the case of wave-particle duality, the wave description corresponds to a theory of quantized fields, where the field variables are governed by an uncertainty principle. The particle description corresponds to a Feynman integral over all particle paths in spacetime. The quantized-field and path integral theories sound very different but are mathematically equivalent, making identical predictions.

The only time an atom is in a single space is when it is being measured.  Otherwise the atom is all over the place.

The time will arrive when you will have no options left.  This will be a time when you will give up even the sadness you experiance from knowing you will lose everything or from simply having nothing and having no control over anything.  It will have been a long journey however, your memory of time will no longer exist.
Beyond all the images and noise you will be at peace.

Nothing Exists
From the book, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones
Yamaoka Tesshu, as a young student of Zen, visited one master after another.  He called upon Dokuon of Shokoku.
Desiring to show his attainment, he said:  "The mind, Buddha, and sentient beings, after all, do not exist.  The true nature of phenomena is emptiness.  There is no realization, no delusion, no sage, no mediocrity.  There is no giving and nothing to be received."
Dokuon, who was smoking quietly, said nothing.  Suddenly he whacked Yamaoka with his bamboo pipe.  This made the youth quite angry.
"If nothing exists," inquired Dokuon, "where did this anger come from?'
