Our consumption of fossil fuels has left us facing a world of climate change and resource depletion.  The monopoly the global energy corporations have is creating a death trap.  Global war to seize oil is not an option.  Eurasia with all of it's oil reserves is still inadequate.  Cancer and other health problems are the unfortunate side effect of working against nature.  The global community needs to abandon the way of the past.  To think we have dominion over Nature is the personification of ignorance.  The United States is not making any friends in Afganistan or Pakistan.   The collateral damage is breeding far more hate then the limited number of people that the marines are killing. Afghanistan's multi-billon dollar narcotics traffic continues to thrive unimpeded.  The war to control Eurasia's vast energy reserves has cost too much.  True global defense will come from solar energy.  Fukushima Daiichi has proven nuclear power is not the answer.  The poisons dispersed from oil, coal, and nuclear energy production kill every day.  The carbon dioxide is raising the temperature of the planet evident in the disappearance of the Artic, Antarctic and mountain glacier ice and the extintion of numerous species.  What are we waiting for?

Desert Life

Living the surreal life of desert solitude, Dale Beckman explores the transpersonal awareness discused in the Astavakra Gita.  The introduction of Advaita Vedanta takes the westerner on a journey within their own skin.  Some of Dale Beckman's paintings have a similar apperance as the yarn paintings of the Huichol Indian's of Mexico.
The infinity of Being

Autumn cottonwood

A bright yellow cottonwood between the canyon walls glows a warm, silent, Autumn day.  The only sound?  A fly trying to get inside of my ear.

Teaching The Ultimate
From the Book, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones
In early times in Japan, bamboo-and-paper lanterns were used with candles inside.  A blind man, visiting a friend one night, was offered a lantern to carry home with him.
"I do not need a lantern," he said.  "Darkness or light light is all the same to me."
" I know you do not need a lantern to find your way," his friend replied, "but if you don't have one, someone else may run into you.  So you must take it."
The blind man started off with the lantern and before he had walked very far someone ran squarely into him.  "Look out where you are going!" he exclaimed to the stranger.  "Can't you see this lantern?"
"Your candle has burned out, brother,"  replied the stranger.
Abiquiu

When I finished this piece I thought it somewhat reminiscent of the Huichol Indian's yarn paintings.  The heart image in the hills was not intended, I did not even notice it until much after the works completion.  However I must say, I do love Abiquiu.

Spirit / Matter fluctuate

Walking into the desert valley, everything that was solid became fluid.  On this quest, "The Infinity of Being",  was apparent.   The Universe opened up to Awareness Itself.  The mask was removed.  Most of my life has been occupied with questions about my observations.  Some of the most interesting reading I have done in quite some time is "The Ashtavakra Gita" the first copy I read was by Rammesh S. Balsekar.  This is a dialogue between Ashatavakra and King Janaka.  The book is sub-titled "A Duet of One"  The topic is known as Advaita.  The translation of  "The Ashtavaktra Gita" By Thomas Byrom titled, "The Heart of Awareness" is also one I would recommend.  I have put in a link to a site about Transpersonal Psychology.  It is also a good read.  It seems apparent that most of our worldly problems are manifest because of who we think we are and who we think some else is.
